Progress: A New Approach to Wellness

As a follow up to my blog “A New Approach to Wellness” I want to share my progress with you so far.  I will update every few days for two reasons:

1.  If I write AND publish my progress then I am holding myself accountable.

2.  By sharing my progress I may inspire one person to take the journey too.

Day One was PRIORITIES and it allowed me to identify the things in my life that are most important to me.  This exercise not only allowed me to identify the important people, places and things in my life, but also made me realize how very grateful I am for all of the amazing gifts I have in my life.  This exercise resulted in developing a TOP PRIORITY CLARITY STATEMENT which took time and thought to develop.  Here it is:

“My number one priority is my own health and wellness; I will practice what I teach others and set a good example of healthy living for those around me, especially my niece and nephew; I will limit activities which put my health at risk; I will weigh all decisions against what would be helpful, harmful or indifferent to my overall health and wellness.”

This statement will be printed out and placed on my refridgerator, on my vision board, near the front door, in my wallet, and in my car so that I can memorize it and see it throughout the day.

Day Two was GOAL SETTING and this was a little more difficult.  The idea is to set SMART goals that take you out of your comfort zone and can be measured.  After coming up with 10 goals (and realizing that this is done every 7 days – WOW) I felt like I had really dug deep and accomplished a solid list.

Day Three was setting the PUSH goal.  This was a little more challenging because it made me take a good look at all the goals I had written down and choose the one that would catapult enough change to make the others fall into place.  I managed to decide on one goal which was not easy!

This is as far as I have gotten, but I am very grateful to Chalene Johnson for putting this new perspective on getting fit.  It really is so much more than saying “Today I’m going to start….or in my case tomorrow I will start.”

If anyone has decided to get the book and start the 30 day journey please share you opinion, progress, and anything else.  Sometimes it’s nice to know you are not doing this alone.  If there is enough response then I will create a FB group to share our progress on.

Happy July 4th Weekend!

Be brave, be strong, be happy! ~ Pamela
