Healing with Positive Energy ~ Part II

Each session I am even more amazed at the progress of healing.  My client is an inspiration and has reinforced that I made the right decision to become a Massage Therapist and Reiki Practitioner.

Our second session was remarkable!  Just before she arrived, my colleague and I commented how good it would be to see her walk through the door without her cane.  To our amazement…she did just that!  She also got clearance to return to work which was her goal in addition to pain relief.

The sessions that have followed have been so rewarding.  Our second session was intense and there was a lot of energy movement.  At the close of the session I was very concerned because she had the physical look and feeling of being heavily medicated.  I advised her to take it slow and go home and rest while keeping focused on the white energy flowing through her.  Feedback after the second session: “…Last night ended up being difficult, pain-wise…I have been imagining white energy coming through me as you suggested, and when I did it this morning, I got out of bed in a great place mentally…I never get out of bed in a good mood; I’m a night owl and have insomnia so I’m always cursing at the alarm, but not today.”

Our fourth session was Reiki only but I added a meditation from Bob Proctor called Abundance Meditation to encourage healing energy.  I was amazed when she fell sound asleep halfway through our session and the energy that usually surged on her right side was slowly calming.  I can’t describe how beautiful it was to see this ray of sunshine rest peacefully!    This is the feedback I received about an hour after she left my office:  “Having tea and soup and feeling wonderful and *SOOO* relaxed!  I’m sorry I think I fell asleep!! I rarely can sleep without medication to dull the pain enough.  Thank you!!!!!!!”

I have always believed in the power of positive energy.  To be able to witness positive energy’s healing power is undescribable.  There are just no words to describe how good I feel seeing someone benefit so much from my touch.

The Universe is so powerful!

Have a beautiful day and Be Well!

Health Benefits of Coconut Oil

I found this book the other day and just had to own it!  Since January I have been using coconut oil as a replacement for many health and beauty items.  I like to try things for myself before sharing them with others to make sure that the claims are true.  I was pleasantly surprised by my results and now feel confident sharing with a reference link.

In January after reading about oil pulling and all the benefits I decided to try it out for myself.  After about one week I could see improvements in my oral health with whiter teeth and fresher breath. Almost six months later I have seen nearly an 80% reduction in plaque.  I took oil pulling one step further in February and made my own toothpaste by mixing equal parts coconut oil and baking soda with 1 drop each of lavender, tea tree, and cinnamon leaf essential oils.  Not only is it less expensive but homemade toothpaste doesn’t contain the chemicals found in manufactured toothpaste.  This has made an even bigger improvement in my oral health.

Another thing that has been replaced by coconut oil is my daily face wash and moisturizer.  I use coconut oil to remove makeup by smoothing it on my face and then wiping it off with a warm washcloth.  After a shower I use coconut oil from face to toe to moisturize.  I have seen a big improvement in my complexion and my skin is soft and smooth.  Warning:  I did breakout during the first week of use but this happens with any change in product.

I have recently added taking 3 tablespoons of coconut oil with my daily supplements for added health benefits.   Coconut oil taken internally can help to strengthen the immune system, improve digestion, promote weight loss, and help prevent heart disease, cancer, viral infections and other degenerative diseases.  I don’t have any results to share yet but will let you know what changes in a couple of months.

The author of The Coconut Oil Miracle, Bruce Fife, has written over twenty books including Coconut Cures and Coconut Lover’s Cookbook.  He is the publisher and editor of the Healthy Ways Newsletter which is sent by email every 2-3 months.  You can also visit the website Coconut Research Center for more information.

Coconut oil has become a staple in my home.  Are you using coconut oil?  If so please leave a comment and let others know about this amazing oil.

Tree of Life: Olive Leaf for Healing

Always looking for an alternative to lab created medications, I came across Olive Leaf at the local natural food store and was amazed at all the great benefits it has to offer.  Medicinal Olive Leaf dates back to the ancient Egyptians.  According to the research of Dr. Morton Walker, Olive Leaf is effective against viruses, bacteria, fungi, herpes, influenza, polio, and Coxsackie Virus A-21.

In addition, Olive Leaf can reduce the risk of heart disease by protecting the heart and brain.  According to the Mayo Clinic, the Mediterranean Diet can help reduce the risk of death from heart disease and cancer.

The fat in olive oil is an Omega 9 mono-unsaturated called oleic acid which is a “healthy” fat.  The olive tree is a source of beneficial plant compounds that also help fight signs of aging and many diseases.  The phenolics in olive leaf help eliminate “free radicals” which cause many diseases and increase the aging process.

Through my research I have found many natural remedies which include olive leaf, tumeric, cinnamon, and lemon balm (aka Melissa).  All of these help the immune system to fight off viral, bacterial, and fungal conditions without the side effects of prescription or over the counter medications.  If you are taking medications please discuss these supplements with your doctor before adding them to your daily routine.  Go to your doctor prepared with articles and information to explain the benefits of these spices and supplements so that your doctor can be better informed.

I tried Barleans Olive Leaf Throat Spray at the onset of a cold and was pleasantly surprised when a day later most of my symptoms had gone away.  I have now incorporated an olive leaf supplement into my daily routine to help fight free radicals and boost my immune system against things like the common cold.

Massage Therapy and a Cancer Diagnosis

The word cancer can stir a multitude of emotions for the person diagnosed and their loved ones. Fear of the unknown and anxiety about treatment; treatment options among other things can take its toll on the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of all those impacted. Many people living with cancer wear a brave face for their family and loved ones while they struggle through uncertainty and treatment.

Massage Therapy is a complimentary treatment that can help relieve the anxiety and stress of diagnosis. Additional benefits include easing pain, improved sleep, easing fatigue, and assisting in controlling nausea. Oncology Massage is a gentle touch massage tailored to each individual client. Massage provides a time to relax and feel the emotions in a safe and nurturing environment.

As a Massage Therapist it is my opinion that the two biggest benefits to Oncology Massage are allowing time for gentle therapy and making the body feel whole again. It is so important to release feelings that are kept behind that brave face because it allows the body more strength to heal. Seeing that you are a whole and beautiful individual can provide renewed strength and vitality.

My inspiration for training in Oncology Massage comes from the heart. I have seen the effects of cancer on loved ones, including the “brave face”. While in school to become an LMT my mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and the feelings of being helpless to provide her relief could be overwhelming at times. I look back now as I remember how beautiful she was throughout her life and I see that she gave me the inspiration I needed to follow this path.

If you or someone you love is living with cancer consider adding Massage Therapy to your treatment plan. For more information or to share your story please contact me.

Benefits of Massage for Children Living with ADHD

My inspiration for this article comes from a beautiful little soul. Thank you “K” for believing in the benefits of massage and most of all believing in YOURSELF!

ADHD, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, impacts 3-5% of school age children. Traditional therapies include medication which can have side effects like loss of appetite, sleep problems, and mood swings. These side effects impact a child’s ability to participate in class and other activities. Often a child will be labeled because of ADHD and may fall through the cracks at school because educators don’t have the tools they need to work with a child with ADHD.

Massage Therapy can help children with ADHD to get a good nights sleep, reduce mood swings, and increase appetite as well as help them to become more focused at school and during other activities. By stimulating the nervous system through gentle massage strokes to the extremeties and back as well as gentle holds of the head and neck the body learns to relax and beome calm. A trained Massage Therapist can help a child to become grounded as well as show parents how they can provide the same techniques at home.

My personal experience with “K” showed amazing results during and after our first session. Because he is only 7 years old his Mom was present through the 30 minute session and she was able to see the techniques used to calm her child. We watched as her child completely relaxed within minutes and the energy releases began. It was a truly beautiful experience. They have incorporated these techniques into thier daily routine. The beauty of this experience was that it was the child’s idea to get a massage. He told his Mom “I think this will help me”. I am truly taken by this and have decided to further my education in Pediatric Massage as a result.

Childhood is a time to have fun and enjoy every moment. If your child has been diagnosed with ADHD give massage a try to see if it is a healthy alternative to dangerous medications.

If you truly hold a stone, you can feel the mountain it came from…

I had the opportunity to spend the past day and a half at Lifebridge Sanctuary located in High Falls, NY.  The Sanctuary is a retreat in the Hudson Valley.  I have added a link to the website so you can see just how beautiful this place is.  Fall in Upstate New York is one of the most beautiful times of the year.  The valley is filled with shades of red, orange, and yellow.  What an amazing way to start your day gazing out into this sea of color and seeing a deer grazing just outside the kitchen window.  Absolutely amazing!

I was at the sanctuary to attend a Gemisphere Foundations Workshop Healing Body, Mind and Spirit with Therapeutic Gemstones.  The workshop focused on the gemstone Quartz and how to use it as a healing therapy.  It was fascinating to see the positive effects of this gemstone as an individual but also as a group.  We learned how to practice presence, balance our chakras, and other therapies.  We also had the opportunity to view the entire Pharmacy of Gems and this was truly breathtaking.

I have always been drawn to rocks and crystals and truly believe in their energy.  My friends will tell you that I have gifted many of them with rocks or crystals to give them something to focus on during challenging times.  Some of the best gifts I have received have been rocks from around the country and world.  If you see a rock or crystal that grabs you, pick it up and put it in your pocket.  Let the energy of mother nature gently nurture you and bring you positive.

I am feeling such gratitude tonight as I reflect on the beauty that surrounds me.  I feel like there is a blanket of white light around me, nurturing and protecting me with gentle energy.  I am blessed to have had the opportunity to share my experience with some of the most courageous and inspiring women from all over the country.

If this sounds like an opportunity for you please visit the websites below for more information.

Happy Wednesday! ~Pamela
