I am always looking for ways to get fit and healthy. I found this book while browsing Barnes & Noble. What caught my eye was “30 Days to Turbocharged Habits…the Life You Deserve”. Creating heathy habits can be a real challenge because let’s face it, Life Happens!
The book follows a process of goal setting, not just diet and exercise goals, but life goals. It all makes sense when you begin to wrap your head around the concept. Wellness isn’t just about being in great physical shape, it’s about addressing yourself as a whole person. It’s figuring out what is important to you and making those things priorities.
Day One is about identifying priorites. It contains “Homework” that makes you take a good honest look at yourself and the things that are most important to you. This can be a challenge at first but once you begin writing things down it just flows and you begin to focus on what’s most important to you.
The next 29 days are set up in a similar way and address all the things that make you YOU. I am very excited to see where this leads and how these “exercises” will help me to get to the place I want to be.

I found this book the other day and just had to own it! Since January I have been using coconut oil as a replacement for many health and beauty items. I like to try things for myself before sharing them with others to make sure that the claims are true. I was pleasantly surprised by my results and now feel confident sharing with a reference link.
In January after reading about oil pulling and all the benefits I decided to try it out for myself. After about one week I could see improvements in my oral health with whiter teeth and fresher breath. Almost six months later I have seen nearly an 80% reduction in plaque. I took oil pulling one step further in February and made my own toothpaste by mixing equal parts coconut oil and baking soda with 1 drop each of lavender, tea tree, and cinnamon leaf essential oils. Not only is it less expensive but homemade toothpaste doesn’t contain the chemicals found in manufactured toothpaste. This has made an even bigger improvement in my oral health.
Another thing that has been replaced by coconut oil is my daily face wash and moisturizer. I use coconut oil to remove makeup by smoothing it on my face and then wiping it off with a warm washcloth. After a shower I use coconut oil from face to toe to moisturize. I have seen a big improvement in my complexion and my skin is soft and smooth. Warning: I did breakout during the first week of use but this happens with any change in product.
I have recently added taking 3 tablespoons of coconut oil with my daily supplements for added health benefits. Coconut oil taken internally can help to strengthen the immune system, improve digestion, promote weight loss, and help prevent heart disease, cancer, viral infections and other degenerative diseases. I don’t have any results to share yet but will let you know what changes in a couple of months.

I was reintroduced recently to The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. I remember the first time I read this book and thought: this is so not for me. As I read and incorporate the ideas now, I realize that I just wasn’t ready for the concept the first time around. I am now using the book, book of gratitude, and the daily teachings app and am truly grateful for all the positive that has been filling my life. What and how you think impacts what you have, are, and want. Learning to live in the present as if you have already achieved what you think about having or doing becomes part of your daily activity within the first week.
I believe that happiness is our choice and available to everyone. If you believe in yourself and your dreams they will come true. If you are in a place of change and want to be happy give The Secret a try. Read this book with an open mind and try just one exercise. I am confident you will see a positive change and be wearing a smile every day.
