Mom Keeps Her Promise

Each year I visit Costa Rica for many reasons.  For me it is a spiritual experience to be surrounded by nature and away from the complexities of American life.  Part of the spirituality comes from a promise my Mom made to me before she passed.  She made me promise to continue my trips because I came home lighter and happier.  Then she promised to send the butterflies so I would know she was with me.

Every year we both fullfill our promises.  Last year I was blessed with a pair of Blue Morpho butterflies that spent time with me in Curu National Wildlife Reserve.  Then again in November for my birthday an injured butterfly kept me company at The Bakery.  This year Mom outdid herself!!!  While hiking in Cabo Blanco my friend and I experienced a mass of butterflies that surrounded us.  There were at least 100 of these beautiful creatures gently flying around us and it was the most beautiful thing I have ever experienced.  I have seen pictures of large masses of butterflies but to experience one was simply magical. I felt like my Mom was standing right beside me and it brought me to tears.  I could feel the beauty of her soul and feel her amazing energy as it surrounded me.  It was simply breathtaking!!

Just prior to this experience I was asking Mom for her help.  My friend was in Cabo Blanco for the first time and wanted to see the monkeys so badly.  We had made it about two thirds of the way through the reserve and still not seen any animals.  I  asked for her to let my friend see the magic of this place and the monkeys.  Not only did she keep her promise to me, but just around the corner we came upon a family of monkeys.  My friend was so excited to finally see the monkeys and it was beautiful to see her reaction.

I am so grateful to have the ability each year to make this journey.  It keeps me connected to my Mom but at the same time allows me to let go a little more.  This year in April she will be gone three years.  It’s hard to believe but I know she is with me each day.

Thank you Mom for your beautiful soul and for always looking after me…even now.

Noise and Sound

Have you ever taken a moment to notice the difference between noise and sound?  They both involve hearing and listening, but the effects of each are very different.

Noise drowns out sound and creates a state of chaos.  It speeds us up and robs us of our awareness.  Noise has become a part of our daily lives.  Things like cars, sirens, machines, loud voices, and alarms create noise.  Noise surrounds us everyday and we become immune to it’s effects.

Sound is a beautiful experience.  It creates a sense of calm and allows the mind and body to slow down.  Sound raises our self awareness.  The sound of birds, crickets, the ocean, the breeze, and leaves stirring bring us back to nature and create balance.  Sound can be a elody or song that brings you back to a good memory.  Sound is part of our spirituality.

I live in a small city filled with noise.  I escape each year to the beauty of Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula where sound is what fills the air.  This year I discovered that sound is my balance.  Sound is what reminds me to breathe and enjoy the moment.  It’s difficult to return to the noise of the city but each time I bring back a part of my trip ad allow it to keep me grounded.

What do you consider noise and how does it effect you?  Have you taken a moment to enjoy sound and see how it makes you feel?  Please share your thoughts in the comments.

Have a beautiful sound filled day!

Confines of Time

How amazing would it be to live without the confines of time?  Time can be limiting and all consuming.  In the world we live in we are so controlled by time that we forget to enjoy the moment.

Recently while on vacation I had the opportunity to live completely in the moment without the confines of time.  I was able to get completely lost in the sound, feel, smell and taste of the ocean.  It was amazing and made me feel like a child again.

Spending the day playing in the waves, collecting rocks and shells, and exploring the beach was so refreshing.  Thinking back to the day I realize that it was the first day in a long time that I spent laughing with a friend.  My friend Nicole and I had such an amazing time and it made me see just how important the special people who share my life are.  It also reinforced that laughter is such good medicine.  It clears the cobwebs and other junk we hold onto and makes room for all the beauty of special moments.

When was the last day you lost track of time?  How did you feel at the end of the day?  Please share your experience so we can inspire others to live in the moment!

Appreciate the life you live and the people you share it with!

Have a beautiful day!

Healing with Positive Energy ~ Part II

Each session I am even more amazed at the progress of healing.  My client is an inspiration and has reinforced that I made the right decision to become a Massage Therapist and Reiki Practitioner.

Our second session was remarkable!  Just before she arrived, my colleague and I commented how good it would be to see her walk through the door without her cane.  To our amazement…she did just that!  She also got clearance to return to work which was her goal in addition to pain relief.

The sessions that have followed have been so rewarding.  Our second session was intense and there was a lot of energy movement.  At the close of the session I was very concerned because she had the physical look and feeling of being heavily medicated.  I advised her to take it slow and go home and rest while keeping focused on the white energy flowing through her.  Feedback after the second session: “…Last night ended up being difficult, pain-wise…I have been imagining white energy coming through me as you suggested, and when I did it this morning, I got out of bed in a great place mentally…I never get out of bed in a good mood; I’m a night owl and have insomnia so I’m always cursing at the alarm, but not today.”

Our fourth session was Reiki only but I added a meditation from Bob Proctor called Abundance Meditation to encourage healing energy.  I was amazed when she fell sound asleep halfway through our session and the energy that usually surged on her right side was slowly calming.  I can’t describe how beautiful it was to see this ray of sunshine rest peacefully!    This is the feedback I received about an hour after she left my office:  “Having tea and soup and feeling wonderful and *SOOO* relaxed!  I’m sorry I think I fell asleep!! I rarely can sleep without medication to dull the pain enough.  Thank you!!!!!!!”

I have always believed in the power of positive energy.  To be able to witness positive energy’s healing power is undescribable.  There are just no words to describe how good I feel seeing someone benefit so much from my touch.

The Universe is so powerful!

Creating Your Dream Life

Over the past couple of years I have been practicing The Secret and using the law of attraction, combined with hard work and persistence, to achieve my dreams.  I truly believe that we have the ability to create the life we want.

I was recently introduced to the concept of Unlimited Abundance and the method of clearing Abundance Blocks that hold us back from allowing ourselves to live the life we want and deserve.  Phrases like “Money doesn’t grow on trees”, “You have to have money to make money”, and “Money is the root of al evil” are things we grow up hearing from friends and family, media, and other sources.  We buy into these ideas and make them our own which creates blocks in achieving our dreams.

I often participate in free webinars that I know are really meant to lure us into buying a product or service.  However, each time I learn something that is valuable to me which makes investing 60-90 minutes worth it.  I rarely buy the product or service but the Unlimited Abundance program sounded like it was worth investing in.  So far it has been a great investment in ME!  I am working through the 24 Abundance Blocks slowly – still on the first block “Clearing Resistance”.  I am seeing a change in my thought process and seeing my life change each day as a result.  Some of the ingrained concepts that I have are beginning fall away and I actually feel lighter and have renewed my belief that I can do whatever I set my mind to doing.

I also added a Bob Proctor meditation to my daily practice for several days now and am beginning to change my thoughts about success, money, and relationships.  The meditation is Abundance Meditation and is about 22 minutes long but worth giving a chance.  Bob Proctor says “If you can hold it in your head you can hold it in your hand”.  I am beginning to see this as a truth and look forward to what I can do with this concept.

Some of the things I am working on are:

~Debt free by the end of 2015

~A successful and sustaining business

~Become a Life Coach

~Be truly happy

What would you like to achieve in the months ahead?  How do you plan to make your DREAMS your REALITY?  Write it down in the comments below and let’s help each other to make it happen!

Healing with Positive Energy ~ Part I

Every now and then I am blessed with a client that challenges my faith in the Universe and in myself.  Each time this happens it makes my faith stronger and I see more clearly the value of following my heart and taking healthy risks.

It is with my client’s permission that I share her story.  This experience has been one of the most rewarding so far on this journey of healing.  It has made me realize that the Universe is here for me, guiding me every step of the way, and all I have to do is BELIEVE!

I met this client through a colleague who felt that I had the tools to help her through pain associated with back surgery.  As I began to explain Reiki and Gemstone Therapy, I began to see the brightness of Jessica’s heart shining through her eyes.  She had been through so much and her determination to get back to work and live her life was stronger than ever, and getting stronger by the minute as we talked.

During our first session we focused on hip pain that was making everything difficult.  Our goal was to reduce the pain by using the Life-force energy of Quartz and the healing power of Lavendar Quartz to balance the body’s energy through the 7 Chakras while pulling the pain from the hip.  We enhanced the session with Reiki to get maximum energy flow for the first session.  The results were amazing!!  Text the next day reads: “…The pain isn’t gone but was more tolerable last night, even as I played with my little nieces for several hours (ages 1, 3, and 5) and I made it all the way till I got home at 12:30am without any meds!! In general, I felt I had an internal glow of sorts, and I had a smile on my face for hours and hours after I left.  I kept the quartz in my pocket, by my worse hip….”

The key to all of this is that she “does her homework” every day.  I gave her a quartz sphere to keep with her to allow life-force energy to continue to flow after our session.  She has also incorporated manifestation techniques and visualization tools to keep the energy positive and flowing freely.  Each day she takes the time to visualize the positive energy of the universe flowing through her from the crown of her head to the bottom of her feet.

I look forward to continuing this story and sharing the amazing results that come out of our sessions.  I hope that you find this information useful and interesting.  If you are living in pain there are alternatives to medication.

Have a beautiful day and be well!

Sunday Gone Wrong is Really a Gift in Disguise

Sunday has become my new favorite day of the week.  It’s the one day I have dedicated to ME and it’s beginning to feel comfortable.  For the past four years I have worked weekends at the bar: Saturday night shift until 4am and a variety of Sunday shifts from going in at 6pm or 8pm or working a double beginning at 3pm.  This schedule was leaving little or no time for me to enjoy my amazing friends and family so I decided to make a change in 2015 and take back my Sundays!

So far Sundays have been all that I expected.  I have been able to say YES to brunch and lazy girl movie day, and have even enjoyed using that thing called a kitchen for more than just making coffee in the morning or reheating take-out from the day before!

This Sunday began like the past three.  Slept in a little bit and then off to meet one of my girls for brunch and catch up time.  We spent hours chatting and laughing without worrying about what time it was or being anywhere.  We parted ways about 3pm and it was off to the market to get some good things to cook up for the week….and then began the Sunday Gone Wrong!

I decided to go to a different market this week just to change it up and was very disappointed to find the first three items on my list were out of stock 😦  I shrugged it off and decided it was a good day for a drive to visit a market I rarely go to.  Excited rather than disappointed – because it was Lazy Girl Sunday – I left the store and headed to the car: Here’s where it really begins.  My car won’t start.  The radio, Bluetooth, lights, and gauges all work but nothing when you turn the key.  Ok, so it’s not the end of the world, make a couple calls and Little Brother is on his way to rescue me!  Nothing is ever that simple in my world and long story short the car is now on a flatbed – 2 hours later – on it’s way to the shop to be looked at tomorrow.  Dad is now my rescue ride and we are all frozen.

My initial reaction is anger that my two year old JEEP is failing me and that I have now inconvenienced my family on their day off.  I just want to cry at this point especially if another guy looks at me and says “Now did you leave the lights on?”  with that ‘oh little blonde, not so bright girl’ face…Ladies you know what I mean.  But I kind of bite my tongue (those who know me know I had a comment for every one of those guys with the face) and took it in stride.

I got home after resorting to shopping at what we in Albany refer to as “The Ghetto Chopper” still sad and wanting to ball my eyes out only to realize the gift of today:  I got to spend time with people who truly matter to me and love me as much as I love them!   Brunch with a dear friend, time spent with my brother and his beautiful children, and precious time with my Dad all to myself.  I am so blessed to have these amazing people to share life’s journey with!

Today’s Lesson:  It’s not about location or circumstance, it’s about seeing the beauty in spending time with loved ones and feeling so loved by those around you that your heart is warm and full.

Have a “life lesson” story to share?  Leave it in the comments section…because we are all human 🙂

Be well & happy!

Christmas Spirit…Everyday

The holidays can be a difficult time for many of us who are missing loved ones who have passed.  If you take a moment to just be you can feel their presence. Christmas Day for me isn’t about fancy presents, religion, or decorations.  For me, Christmas Day is about putting aside your everyday routine to spend time with family and friends.  It’s about enjoying the people in your life, both past and present, with honesty and compassion.

I am filled with such gratitude today for all the amazing people in my life.  There are so many people who encourage and support me in all of my journeys.  These people have been such a blessing to me and I want to take a moment to say thank you.

On this special day, take a moment to be grateful for all those who have touched your life.  We all need amazing people in our lives because they keep the light bright and make the world a better place to live.

Happy Holiday to you all!  My wish for you is happiness, peace and love for the coming year.  May you recognize the amazing in yourself and those who surround you!

Be happy and well.

A Spiritual Birthday Gift

A Spiritual Birthday Gift

Butterflies have always been magical to me because they are so free and beautiful. In 2012 my Mom told me: “Promise me something, that you will go to Costa Rica next year for me. I will not be here but I will send all the butterflies and tell them to visit my beautiful girl so that you know I am with you.” She kept that promise and on my last day of vacation I was greeted by an amazing, deep yellow butterfly. I knew immediately that it was her and she brought such a variety of friends with her. It is a memory I cherish every day that allowed me to truly grieve for her and let go.

This November visit was extra special and reinforced my Mom’s presence is with me all the time. My birthday is in November and my Mom always made it so special. I miss getting a card from her the week before my birthday and her insisting that we have cake and ice cream to celebrate. Two things that I took for granted when she was here and now I would give anything to have. But today, as I sit eating breakfast in Costa Rica, there are many butterflies fluttering about. I am taken by their grace and beauty as my heart fills with love from my Mom. I look down to see a beautiful orange butterfly struggling to fly and realize that it has a broken wing. I reach down to pick her up so she is out of foot traffic and she eagerly climbs onto my hand. What an amazing feeling to be able to hold one of these magical beings! She spent an hour with me while I ate my breakfast and checked my messages – a birthday gift from my Mom. As I was leaving The Bakery I tried to place her safely in the flowers but she clung to my finger. Finally she moved to the flower and I said goodbye, my heart filled with love and joy from the experience.

What an amazing experience to feel the love of a tiny little being. My day was extra beautiful from that moment on and I am so grateful to now have that memory. I am also grateful to have that feeling of my Mom joining me for a part of my day in a way that I could touch and feel.

When we truly believe in the power of positive, beautiful things happen. Always believe in the greater good of the world and you will experience pure, honest love in places you would never expect.

Thank you Mom for being present in spirit and in a form that I could touch. It means more than anyone could ever know.

Have a Beautiful Day!! ~Pamela

A Lesson in Patience

A Lesson in Patience

Patience is a continual teacher and we are her students. We learn patience for many things in our lives and then we are given another lesson to learn. When we think we have passed all the tests that patience has to give us there is yet another chapter added to the lesson book.

A recent experience has shown me that patience is similar to rainstorms in the Summer. One day we may be overflowing with it and the next it is no where to be found. I am grateful for the experiences that allow me to continue to learn and grow. Seeing in others the very things that we don’t like in ourselves is a powerful thing. Tolerance of others in these situations is life changing.

What have I learned in the past week? Oh so much!! I learned that I am so grateful for how my parents raised me. They gave me the space I have always needed to learn and grow, even when some of those lessons were difficult and would hurt me. I learned to value my alone time as it brings me balance and great joy. My alone time is invaluable because it allows me to sit with myself and grow or let go of what is necessary. I learned that sometimes you just have to open your mouth and speak your mind or else others will walk all over you. This is not always easy, but with practice it allows peace within the mind. The most important thing I have learned is to appreciate each quiet moment so that I have a place to go when surrounded by chaos. I am a bright light surrounded by light rather than darkness and these quiet moments allow me to keep the dark and negative out of my space.

Practice patience each day and you will find the calm place within when everything around you is not.

BE POSITIVE and Have a Beautiful Day!!  ~Pamela
